Off Road story "GOOR kit" cleaned up my oil mess ...

Stuff happens. It happened to me last week. I was out for a short session at my favorite spot in my one of a kind rig. Here is a photo taken before we got going.

So we were going wheeling on my buddies trail on a day that just looked like everything was going to go perfect. You know what I mean. Crawlin one of my last bits and then it happened... I could smell it first then I looked down and yep I was the Sierra Clubs poster boy for why they don't want us. I can't print what I said, your kids might be reading this. So lets just say it was not Disney more like Chris Rock on a bad day. I think you get my drift. So here is the deal I had my GOOR kit that I picked up recently. It is cool because it has everything you need to not only clean up the spill and remove the oil, it also biologically breaks the stuff down organically. What ever, it works! So here is how it worked for me.

Had a bit of a problem, could smell it...

Grabbed my GOOR Kit off my roll bar...

Used the containment ring and gloves etc...

I pulled out the spray bottle of the biodegradable degreaser stuff and sprayed the rock that had clearly met my Truck at some point. Yep my bad. But hey, I want to do the right thing to protect my rights off road, so I have to clean it up. I digress, I sprayed the cleaner on the rock and then went back to the self contained kit. It hangs on my rig as regular as my gas can or Cibie lights. The rock seemed to lose that oily look and after it dried looked as if I had never had my mistake. That's a relief, wonder if this would work on my driveway : )

After carefully scooping and bagging as much of the contaminated soil as required, I poured the organic contaminate breakdown stuff on the little bit of oil in the ground (for any oil that I may have missed). I hear its what they use in oil spills and such. It was pretty easy and only took me a few short minutes to mix in a bucket. Its all part of the deal and its my buddies land and I want to preserve the friendship if you know what I mean.

Just like that, I had it bagged, rocks were clean and ground was treated! within minutes I was done. Tree huggers would be proud, and well thats the deal now a days so I am ok with the saying " if I make the mess I clean it up". If only my kid would do the same! The GOOR kit works and I am glad to have it on my rig. Lets keep our access to the trails by keeping it clean just my 2 cents...
